Kristin was first spied one morning on the eve of the Watts riots, and it got thoroughly into her blood. She's a riot and a half. Mysteriously she has some piratey ways, including a love of adventure and a practical sense with money (bury it or spend it). The truth about Kristin, really, though, is that she is a mermaid. She is mysterious, well-groomed, and she likes "adventure," a lot of it, as mermaids are wont. She also has a way with the people, the human people, that sort of cries out 'seductive power.' It's been alleged. I'd have to say that she was the spawn of a mermaid and a pirate (this is no slander of her real parents, understand), not just pirates as is popularly alleged. Naturally, the only place to find this kind of assemblage of people and influences would be Red Hook Brooklyn, possibly Mumbai, or Long Beach, CA. Kristin was spawned in Long Beach.
Kristin has always leaned left. She faced north once, looked left, and found herself gallivanting across the bumpy geography of Central/South Asia. She has been there a few times. A few times she has looked south however, turned left, and ended up along her most treasured Eastern Seaboard. Building what? Where? It is all just a geopolitical question anyway. And for Kristin, the process of getting there is paramount. Fast and hard. Once, and many times afterwards, she has found herself in Long Beach, CA, her home, home. During a talent search as a child, Kristin was named the next "Grand Master Flash." She is still living up to that potential. Her tool of choice is the Spatula, always has one handy if she gets in a bind. Kristin is an active member of the Shallow Earth Society, a break-off from its more widely accepted nucleus. She is the current ranking officer. She is taller than she looks.
The story of Kristin's life can be summed in one word -- awakening. Two words: awakening, fascination. If a third word is invited to the summary, it would be thorough. (Credit: Michael Eros)
Actually?
Kristin studied Anthropology and Literature at Williams College, though her roots are indeed in Long Beach, CA. She served as the Assistant Director on the fall 2008 and 2009 Antioch Buddhist Studies program in Bodh Gaya, India, fixing microphones and chasing monastics. She lives in South Seattle with her partner Claire and her pup. She spends her non-painting time practicing aikido, reading, cooking, and planning parties.
